We have too many books!
And that’s a good thing for you. Come early and come late to get the most from the WPLFF Book Sale. You know the “best” books sell early. But the best deals come late! From 1:00 on it’s $5 for a bag full of books. It gets better if you bring your own bag! Just $3 when you bring your own sack.
It looks like mostly we purchase new books – 25% each from local bookstores and airports! So, that means you’ve got some at home to donate to the library’s book sale and Book Nook, right? Next up was new books from online at 17% and used at our book sale (yay!) with 17%. Used online and used from the Book Book were the other sources for your book purchases, each with 8%. Books are like the water cycle, they go round and round, from one reader to another, and that is wonderful!
Spring is a busy time for the WPLFF and Waukee Public Library.
First up is the FlowerPower Fundraising Sale. Seeds and plants ship for spring planting. Sales end May 15. May gets crazy so don’t wait, get your orders in now. 50% of all sales go to the WPLFF to help fund Waukee Public Library’s Outreach Van. Let out of town friends and family know about the sale too. Items ship direct to the customer, anywhere in the U.S.
Soon to follow is the Spring Book Sale! Mark your calendar for May 17 and 18, 2024. Friday evening, WPLFF donors are invited for early access from 6-7:30pm. You can make your donation at the event if you haven’t yet! Everyone is welcome Saturday 8am – 3:30pm. Get great deals on used books, puzzles, music and magazines. Sweet treats will also be for sale. We’ll be sending out the volunteer sign up a few weeks before the sale. If you’re interested in helping send us a message.
If you’re a goal-setting planner you’re in your element this time of the year. If not, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and look for sunshine where you can find it. Either way check out the new WPL Notice. Pick up a paper version at the library or scroll though the online version here. You can find out about all the upcoming events and click on the links/QR codes to go straight to the registrations sites. In Waukee Public Library’s art museum you’ll find children’s artwork, nature art and more. Get a look at titles for upcoming book clubs and start reading. Take note of resources like crafting and ancestry websites, tax resources and outreach schedules. It’s all at the Waukee Public Library for you!
